No big reset needed to turn around Dons' fortunes

The last time MK Dons won four games in a row came back in March 2019. In the midst of a stinking run, losing five out of six and falling out of the League Two play-off spots, then boss Paul Tisdale made wholesale changes to his side for a trip to Newport and it sparked a revival as they won five straight.

Russell Martin was a player in that 'Newport reset' team, appearing in four out of the five wins as the club went on to claim automatic promotion. Under his guidance now though, Dons won their fourth consecutive game on Saturday against Doncaster Rovers - the first time they've put a run like that together since 2019.

Despite the echoes of familiarity though, Martin said there was none of the same panic which went on behind the scenes three years ago when it came to turning around his side's fortuntes recently. Instead, he stuck to the game-plan and kept the faith it would turn right.

"There was no big reset or a crisis meeting," he said. "We haven't changed anything, we've been consistent with our approach. We felt we were building to our best performances again.

"The Blackpool game showed we could be capable of some really great things on a difficult pitch to play on.

"You eventually hope all the hard work pays off and it has in the last four games. We'll continue to work hard together, continue to ask more from them and hopefully we'll see more of theses results before the end of the season."
