A 30-year-old man has been jailed for 18 months after he deliberately drove into another man in a road rage incident.

Wayne Cooper pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving, but has now been convicted after a two day court trial

Cooper, of The Hide, Netherfield, got into an argument late at night just after Christmas when one vehicle pulled out in front of the other in MK Stadium car park

He and the other driver got into an altercation and one of the men called his father as he was concerned what was going to happen, say police.

The altercation ended and then Cooper got into his vehicle and looked as though he was driving out of the car park.

He then turned his vehicle around and deliberately drove at the other driver’s father, a 51-year-old man, colliding with him.

The victim was left with severe bruising and grazing to his arm and soreness to his neck.

Cooper was arrested on the same day and was charged on 7 July 2019 with one count of driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

At Aylesbury Crown Court on Friday, Cooper was found guilty, sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment and disqualified from driving for two years and nine months.

He will also have to take an extended driving test when his disqualification expires.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Lynda Stearman from Milton Keynes CID said: “This incident had the potential to cause very serious injuries to the victim, and had it not been for his swift actions of taking evasive action, the results of Cooper’s dangerous driving could have had even more serious consequences."

He added: “Cooper displayed a total disregard for the victim and despite entering a not guilty plea, the jury thought otherwise and unanimously convicted him.

“Cooper’s actions were utterly deliberate and he did not stop after the incident, showing a total disregard for his victim. I am pleased that he has now been sentenced to a period of imprisonment where he can reflect upon his dangerous actions that night.”
