Milton Keynes school closes all year groups after Covid spike over weekend

The Hazeley Academy, in Emperor Drive, made the decision yesterday (Monday) to close its remaining attending year groups - Years 7, 8 and 12 - after multiple people associated with the school tested positive for Covid-19 over the weekend (December 12-13).
The other year groups not mentioned above are already studying from home and self-isolating.

Hide AdHazeley Academy said in a letter to parents that it is trying to find the best balance between safety, quality of education and pastoral care following an increase in the number of students and staff self-isolating.
According to Milton Keynes Council's Covid figures, which were provided on Friday (December 11) and therefore before the most recent cases the school has cited, the Hazeley Academy had 15 pupils and 1 member of staff test positive and 388 pupils isolating.
The leader of MK Council has revealed yesterday there is a "strong possibility" MK will be placed under Tier 3 rules on Wednesday as Covid cases continue to soar.
